A few years back, Alabama decided that after being overhunted and protected, alligators had come back in such numbers that they needed to be thinned out a bit. They really did. So a lottery was held, and one hundred gator tags were given out. My dad's name was drawn.
This guy was about eleven feet long, no joke. Right as he (with assistance) got it up to the boat, it opened its jaws and slammed them shut. On the boat. It made two holes, and my dad was bailing water all the way back to the dock.
Second biggest gator killed, but got the most publicity because of the boat bite thing.
Imagine my surprise when I wake up to see a boat in the drive outside my window, surrounded by my dad and four strange men. "Holy crap, what IS that in there?" Oh, nothing, just a gator corpse.

It's happened twice, I think, since then. He signed up but didn't get drawn for the tag. There's still a limited number of liscences they give.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
